▣ About the Project

  The "UAC_2009 Relay Show_Project" introduces to on/offline citizens the various artworks based on the experimental media art, which not only gives artists a chance to publish their works and inspire their creative activity but also to allow citizens to experience a new art language and cultural variety.  

  In addition, this project doesn't stop with the actual exhibit but builds up the system which publishes and distributes the resulting products from the exhibition through the production of DVD’s, CD’s, book, artworks, and so on. With this, artists receive economical feedback and spectators are encouraged to continue their interest in the works and artists even after the exhibit.

  Thirteen artists take part in this eight-month long project and show a variety of exhibition and results. Furthermore, we would like to establish an alternative system for publication and distribution of artworks, and search for various possibilities for this purpose. Finally, this project will be a meaningful experiment that is aimed at producing a more meaningful and effective communication between artists and the public, and therefore be a way to survival for the artists.  

▣ About the Undergroundartchannel(UAC)
Undergroundartchannel started as Web_Vol.1, the space of experimenting media and personal communication of art in January, 2005. From June, 2006, new version of Undergrounartchannel Vol.2, the archive project & the online networker for artists who experiment on media and produce art languages, has showed the irregular screening and exhibition project started from OFF_0℃ in Space Cell in 2006 and was followed by OFF_ +0℃ in Arario Gallery, Beijing, OFF_ 1℃ in Dao Space in 2007 and OFF_2℃ in Alternative-mediative space Minari in Gwang-Joo in 2008. The Undergroundartchannel based on the online space www.undergroundartchannel.net and the offline space Red Video which was opened in OFF℃, 2008 seeks the possibility of experimental audio-visual language through various projects experimenting the communication among artists, media and citizens.

▷ This work is made up of one’s experiences of the time as one looks at herself or himself while the artist looks at her or him with the completed physical form opened. Welcome everyone who would like to experience your image in a different way!

▷ This work is the collection and installation of the impromptu video clips made in the project space. During the time of exhibit, the dynamic images and sounds  are changed into realtime and the space undergoes a transfiguration. The impromptu audovisual performance using the collected clips will be showed in the opening and the end of exhibit. This is recorded again by the camera and with one realtime cinema, the project becomes complete. Finally, One DVD will be produced as the result of this work.

▷ The artist puts together contradicting relationship in the real world which is connected just like Möbius strip and its meanings by creating new relationships. Here he asks us to perceive the message of disappearance through the various encouraging experiences, and not through fixed and visible objects.

▷ The multi-performance duo, Boochoolaamaa, shows a kind of music that is not bound within a specified art genre, using the violin for children and other folk instruments collected from various places. The DVD that features the works and documents of Boochoolaamaa, covering a period of two years, will be on the show.

▷ Life is sometimes edited despite our own will. The edited changes and corrections leave us in trauma, like a violent experience. Our existence is too weak to make a solution but I would like to make a frank confession of how I feel about this world.

▷ Cinema always asks us to remain inside the virtual world. If this virtual illusion from the fundamental characteristic of the cinema is removed, the audience may then see the reality beyond the silver screen with the viewpoint of a new cinematic world by recognizing the deconstructed illusion and reconstructed cinema.

▷ This work studies how art and man communicate through the process of setting an object, examining trauma, and creating an image of the world we desire. As would a magician, the artist grants his or her imagination and fantasy in the course of representing the image of the world. Here, the connection between artist, artwork and audience, finally, reveals the real meaning in this work.

▷ This work is about forgetting myself while the former work was about seeking who I really am. Upon forgetting who I really am, I put myself under the frame of the mass and system of our society. As a result I would like to release much of my stress as I extend the meanings created in that frame.

▷ Through several mutual relationships, day-to-day things we use give meaning to our very existence. This work begins from the question, "If the relationships from our day-to-day existence changed, how could another relationship exist?" The artist makes cynical remarks about this question and experiments a new mutual relationship.

Project live Film(live + streaming visual sound film) ?
live Film(directed by Suk, Sung_Suk)> is an incomplete film which tries an experiment on a different possibility of the expression and communication that digital film media includes through the medium of live, improvisation and networking

This project navigates, experiments and records the boundary between visual arts and films.

Spiegelung(the German, "Spiegelung" means 'mirroring', 'reflection')Project is composed of three independent scenes.
The third scene of live Film, Spiegelung shows a diversity of visual phenomenon that appears in the course of combining camera, screen and realtime video_production_ processing with director's performing. The film unites impromptu with the performance of a sound-artist and is screened as a one time film not only in the web but the space where the film is constructed. was produced on the basis of the workshop going on under the support of Arts Council Korea and Dao-Space. And this DVD includes screened in OFF ℃ 10th jan. 2009 and the related information with the project.

Second Theme_The Metaphysical Sense about Horror!

Don't care for the way of appreciating art film & video. Watching or sleeping, you can enjoy them as your own way.
Undergroundartchannel & OFF ℃ strike the door of this friday's night with the second theme 'The Metaphysical Sense about Horror!', one of the program of The Cinema House Project 'Watching art films, lying in the gallery'

This program is a midnight media art & video screening which is come up with the plan for escaping the tense and educated way of appreciating artwork that has  produced the distance between artwork and spectators by existing galleries. In this program the spectators can enjoy a variety of artworks sitting, lying, sleeping or drinking etc., as their own way from midnight to daybreak. That is planned for getting out of the existing way of watching film and seeking the various ways of communication with artwork. 

With the second theme 'The Metaphysical Sense about Horror!', we are showing the special artworks which give something horrible based on various sensuous experimentations, not a horror movie as a simple entertainment following the established narrative.

This program suggest a trying of getting to the variety of horrors in human being's inside with more free and active attitude.

OFF ℃ invite those who want to experience many kinds of eyes and sense about horror this 31, October at midnight.
